Happy Weekend + Links I Love

Happy weekend! There’s no denying it any longer: fall is knocking at our doors. Coffee shops have swapped out berry-flavoured drinks for pumpkin-spiced ones and it’s been cold and rainy all weekend.

The 2015 Toronto International Film Festival kicked off on Thursday and yesterday I caught the red carpet arrivals for Canadian director Atom Egoyan’s new film Remember (starring Christopher Plummer).

Got any fun weekend plans? This week was a pretty busy one, so I’ll be catching up on sleep. If you’re in the mood for a bit of internet browsing, here are a few links I’m loving this week…

+ I’m hoping to catch the world premiere of British playwright David Farr’s debut film, The Ones Below at TIFF on Tuesday night.

+ “A school in East Porterville, one of the most deeply affected areas in the state, now offers daily showers and bottled water for students without running water at home. Teachers are on constant alert for pupils who’ve lost focus and confidence; they’re humiliated to be wearing dirty clothes in class and anxious about the bad news that might greet them when they get home.” The forgotten students of California’s drought.

+ The New Yorker considers What ever happened to Google Books?

+ Lauren Conrad unveiled her LC Runway Kohl’s Collection at New York Fashion Week.

+ An oh so lovely weekend getaway to Paris.

+ A look inside N.Y.C.’s first ever cereal bar. “24 different flavors of cereal, five specialty milks (including hemp), and 25 assorted toppings.”

+ Chriselle shares 7 foods for your skin.

+ Little feet, long journey. This photo essay broke my heart.

+ NASA astronauts have read The Martian and hope to see the movie in space.

Summer reading update:

+ This book has been glued to my hands all week: The Girls at the Kingfisher Club. Pick it up and thank me later.

+ Also taking my sweet time reading Daring Greatly by Brené Brown.
