Happy Weekend + Links I Love

treehouse magic

Happy Friday, friends! Is it just me or did this week come and go in a flash? This week, I turned my attention to fueling my creativity. I’ve been listening to Todd Henry’s Accidental Creative podcast episodes every morning (and sometimes at night). If you’ve hit a creative stumbling block, I highly recommend you take a listen.

What’s everyone up to this weekend? I did a ton of internet browsing this week and came across links that made me smile, tugged at my heart strings, and taught me something new. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Happy clicking!

+ The perfect escape: Environmentalist Peter Bahouth created a series of enchanted treehouses in his Atlanta backyard.

+ I just found Alyssa Joy’s blog and it is literally a God-send. In need of encouragement? Read: God is…Present and Peace, beloved.

+ Obsessed with TED Talks: Your body language shapes who you are. Social Psychologist Amy Cuddy shares that our body language governs how we think and feel about ourselves, not just how others view us. During my job interview this week, I paid close attention to my posture. I straightened my back, squared my shoulders and felt a surge of confidence. My new mantra: “Don’t fake it ’til you make it. Fake it ’til you become it.”

+ Stephanie pours her heart out in this post. A beautiful testament to what is possible when we put God first in all areas of our lives.

+ All this time I’ve been missing out on foodie paradise, The Sugar Hit. Better late than never, I guess. The genius behind this little slice of heaven is Sarah Coates (who based on her ‘about’ page is absolutely hilarious) – “The Sugar Hit works on a ‘no calorie wastage’ policy. If it’s on the site, you can rest assured it’s well worth the potential extra time at the gym.” See what I mean? Bookmarked this recipe for Onion Pakoras with Tamarind Chutney for future indulgence.

+ Want to retain more information and boost your creativity? Grab a pen and paper and start doodling.

+ Fall lips: Models sported dark berry lips at Rebecca Minkoff, Rodarte and Nanette Lepore. The only tutorial for berry-stained lips you’ll ever need.

+ Mad about plaid: Plaid ruled the Fall 2014 runways. Creatures of Comfort, Rag & Bone, Tommy Hilfiger and Vera Wang all embraced the trend. I would love to add this plaid shirt, this plaid skirtthis plaid cami and this plaid wrap coat to my wardrobe.

+ Love your curls: If you’ve got naturally curly hair like me, chances are you’ll appreciate this curl diffusing technique.

+ Words to cherish. We need to speak out about topics that make us feel ashamed or uncomfortable instead of sweeping them under the rug.

+ Supal featured self-made freelance photographer Rebecca Dale on her blog this week. Standout quote from the interview: “Sometimes you have to give up certain things to get what you really want.”

+ Must-watch: The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards airs live on Monday night at 8ET/5PT. Any predictions for Outstanding Drama Series? Print off this ballot and follow along during the show.

+ And just in case this was keeping you up at night, NY Mag answers the question: Wait, Why Are the Emmys on a Monday this year?

Wishing you a blessed weekend!
