Let’s get graphic

Graphic prints in black and white are all the rage right now. On my recent date with Pinterest, pins sporting graphic stripes, gingham and geometric prints – all in black and white kept popping up in my feed. Now, I’m a fan of bright, bold colours. Colourful cushions dot my couch and whenever I go shopping, I find myself drawn to brightly coloured tops, sweaters, and dresses.

But there’s something to be said about black and white. Black and white is a timeless combo that evokes simplicity. When choosing to decorate your home, keeping it simple is often times the best option. Graphic black and white prints are definitely one of the hottest trends right now. And not just in decor. Designers like Ralph Lauren and Derek Lam sent black and white looks down the Fall 2013 runways in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. And the trend looks like it’s here for an extended stay. The intricate prints also stole the spotlight on the Spring/Summer 2014 runways.

If you like, you can mix and match these black and white patterns and add a pop of colour with a brightly coloured lipstick or purse. The same can be done while dressing up your home. Given its minimalist nature, this combo can be manipulated in different ways. Have fun playing around with different patterns and textures and create the home of your dreams!
